Sydney's Millennium Celebrations
We all celebrate milestones in time, birthdays, christmas, new year and anniversary's, but as far as milestones go, the the millennium was a big one.
At 00:00 on the 1st of the 1st of 2000, Sydney celebrated the new Millennium with a bang.
Over 1.2 million people lined the foreshore to watch a show to kick start another 100 years of humanity. The TV audience was estimated at 1.1 billion. Sydney made the world stage as the place to be.
Banks Events was engaged by Spectack (Rick Birch) to manage the harbour production for this extraordinary show.

Sydney 2000 Olympics Closing Spectacular
On Sunday 1st October, 2000, the biggest pyrotechnic spectacular the world had seen ignited in the skies above Sydney, to mark the closing of the Sydney Olympics.
The production management of the 2000 Olympic closing ceremonies harbour spectacular including the river of "River of Lightning" was conducted by Banks Events with Foti International, for David Atkins enterprises.
The logistics and organization included 34 separate Pyro firing positions, leading from Olympic site at Homebush Bay to the Harbour Bridge, 12 city buildings, the bridge and 4 main barges with a fireworks contractor from each continent of the world.
The Sydney Olympics had so many moments of personal achievement that our events industry should be proud of
Adam Huie and the Banks team were responsible for council approvals and coordination, commissioning 15 separate barges and the 9 tugs required for their movements, 800 staff using 253 individual radio communication stations over a 12 channel talk group matrix.
72 patrol boats required to manage the public exclusion zones around the harbour, stage management and airspace management for numerous helicopter camera positions, a blimp and even the F111 that symbolically extinguished the living flame of the 2000 Olympics and ignited the Harbour Bridge on its way to Athens.
Australia Day Spectacular - Darling Harbour 2006, 2007, 2008 & 2009
With an Audience of over 150,000 the spectacular is the largest event held in Darling Harbour annually. Executive Producers, Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority and The NSW Office of Special Events and Protocol have chosen producers, Adam Huie of Banks Events and Andrew Lopez of Out There Productions to produce this flagship event .

The Australia Day Spectacular combines a fireworks spectacular with the NSW government official ceremony for Australia Day.
This mix of high energy fireworks, video, lights, cultural performance and national pride produces a show that brings the largest number of people to Darling Harbour throughout the year.
